what's up weekly.

Listen all y'all, it's a quarantine.  Listen all y'all, it's a quarantine!  LISTEN ALL Y'ALL, IT'S A QUARANTINE!

In case you haven't seen it on the news or heard it from the town crier, we're still under lockdown.  Excuse me, I mean Shelter In Place.  Sounds so much cozier when you put it that way.

It has meant for us that we haven't really gotten out and about, other than our trip to the Amish for groceries; I haven't been to Walmart or Aldi in a few weeks; we spend our time hunkered down as a family... so, pretty much life as usual around here.

The weather has been nice, which has meant yardwork, yardplay, and a return to using the garage as a playroom.

We have also been getting out for family walks after lunchtime each day, which has been a fantastic bonus to all of this.  I can't really get out on my own with all the kids, since our neighborhood has no sidewalks and a truly treacherous hill.  I really can't do it by myself.  But with Todd, all things are possible.  Since he's been working from home, we've been spending his lunch hour walking the scenic trails near our house - usually only covering a mile or two, but we're at least moving and burning off energy and enjoying the sunshine.  It has been glorious.  (Except for when we're climbing that monster hill, which Rocco has dubbed The Hill Difficulty.)

We jumped back into school this week after Spring Break, even though I was really dragging my heels about it.  It's going pretty well, all things considered.  We've cracked open some new, enjoyable books, and I'm slowly digging myself out of the pile of papers that have yet to be graded.  So things are on the upswing.  Callisterina will back me up on that.

On the flip side of the coin, I'm venturing out tomorrow for my first Walmart pickup since all of this chaos ensued.  I'm also needing to find a US Cellular that is open, since Todd's phone broke this week and since he's working from home, it's his only way to receive work calls.  Gracious, I hope US Cellular is considered an essential business at this point.  Wish me luck!

Also, you know that thing where, as a mom, you are constantly reminded of the law of entropy? (I like to call it parentropy, because I like a good mash-up word.)  Well, here is why we can't have nice things:

I like to call this photo A Snapshot of Children at War.  Why can't we all just get along?!

So, you see, we had a week filled with plenty of ups and downs in a week that wasn't actually filled with much.  My relatively optimistic outlook (harhar) and natural hermit tendencies are being tested with the refining dumpster fire that is glorified house arrest.  I am ready to go back to life as usual annnnny day now.  (Well, I want to get back to the library as usual, but still keep Todd at home all day.  Is that too much to ask?)
